Camp Chaos Plan: How MAGAs Are Fueling a Government Shutdown that Could Wreck Your Life
Just like Trump’s 2019 disaster, with Musk fanning flames of misinformation and the GOP abandoning reason, federal services, food safety, and your paycheck could be next.
But you wanted lower egg prices (which you’re not going to get)…
From the Washington Post:
At first, life would go on: Unless you work for the federal government or are in the military, it may not immediately affect your daily life. (Mail and Social Security checks will still go out.)
But the longer a shutdown were to go on, it would affect you.
About a month into the last shutdown in 2019, in Trump’s first term, flights got delayed after air traffic controllers stopped showing up for work while not being paid.
That ended up being the longest shutdown in federal history, at 34 days.
Shutdowns that go that long mean food safety inspections could lag. (Bird flu anyone?)
Programs that help people buy food could run out of money in a few days. (Musk & Trump don’t care if people go hungry. “Let them eat cake!”)
Billions in federal disaster aid could be delayed. (Ravaged by multiple hurricanes? Too fucking bad.)
Passport services will close down. (Can’t run away now, minions!)
“Basic federal services hang in the balance,” reported The Post’s Jacob Bogage, when a shutdown last year looked likely.
This never goes well. But this time will be different, right?
